Ilford Delta 400 is characterized by its fine grain for its sensitivity and clear detail reproduction. The modern core-shell emulsion produces a comparatively smooth look with differentiated shades of gray.

ISO 400 is suitable for changing light and handheld shots. When exposed at a higher EI, the development must be adjusted accordingly. Grain and contrast may increase as a result.
