Original Wolfen Color 400 is a completely newly developed color negative film, manufactured in Germany. Tuned for daylight shooting, the material can also be used in artificial light with appropriate filtering. This versatile film offers a pleasant grain structure and a great, nostalgic character.
Original Wolfen Color 400 expands the palette of filmmakers, as this material offers a unique and incomparable look. Ideal for commercials, short films, TV shows, flashbacks, documentaries, music or skating videos and many other projects. The texture and unique color reproduction convey a beautiful retro charm and are immediately and unmistakably recognizable as analog by everyone. A stylistic device for which small-format film - within otherwise completely digital productions - is now used in larger quantities.
This uniqueness and quick recognizability as Photographic Film are the advantages and strengths of this material.
In cine film applications, imperfections are possible. We have achieved the best results when exposing at 200-250 ASA (this gives a denser negative). For machine development, devices designed for 8mm or 16mm film should be used, as these transport the film "more gently" and with less film tension. Above all, excessive pressure on the wet emulsion should be avoided. For example, no RemJet removal should be carried out, as this is not necessary and unnecessarily strains the film.
